A private Latin letter on a ceramic support from the mid-2nd century AD, discovered at Ampelum (Upper Dacia) and remained unpublished for four decades, provides new evidence on its sender, C. Iulius Proclus, the best-known officinator of the province via his signatures on a variegated ceramic production. Except some epistolary formulas and an accounting notation on the verso, the body of the text, despite its legibility, remains obscure due to encrypted notations.
