SB XXIV 16219, letter, Flavius Atias, ‘Aṭiyyah b. Ju’aid, grammatephoros, womanAbstract
The first edition of this 7th-century document considered the text written along the fibers as the recto of the papyrus, and the line written on it as the opening of a document. Actually, this line is the address written on the verso of a letter, the beginning of which is preserved on the other side, the recto, against the fibres. In it, the dux Atias intervenes in favour of a woman in a matter that is no longer reconstructable. This paper gives a revised and full edition of the papyrus.
