An edition of P.Heid.inv. G 2735 R from the year 787/788 and a new reading in P.Ryl. Copt. 175 from the year 720/721 are offered. These two document prescripts attest to the use of the adjective φιλόχριστος ʽChrist-lovingʼ used to describe the Egyptian province of the Thebaid. It is likely that this usage can be linked to Hermopolite scribes and might have had an ideological meaning under Islamic rule.
