Abstract

Because of the appellation to the emperor in Act. 25,11 apostle Paulus must have been in the possession of the Roman citizenship. It is still not clear why the family of Paulus received the Roman citizenship. Either the whole city of Tarsos got the citizenship or an ancestor of Paulus was captured during a war in Iudaea and became a slave in or close to Tarsos and was set free later.
