Abstract

In 2016, Werner Eck published two bronze tablets showing fragments of the lex municipalis of Troesmis in Moesia inferior from the times of Marcus Aurelius' and Commodus' joint reign (177–180 AD). The text on tablet B starts within regulations on the minimum asset of election candidates. According to the editio princeps, the lex then raises the minimum age of candidates for priesthoods. The following reference to Augustan legislation is said to concern the calculation of the candidates' individual "legal age". A critical revision of the inscription's text leads to certain modifications.
