Abstract

Edition with commentary of the back side of P.Mich. inv. 124, an account of charges for weaving. The main interest of this account lies in the word ἀντυπ( ), which is interpreted as a variant of ἐντύπη, a drawing on a papyrus sheet in a scale 1:1, which works as a sample for the reproduction of decorative motifs (“Wirkkartons”). This document raises another question regarding the understanding of the noun ὕφαντρον, which might be explained as charges for weaving. The weavers were professionals and worked in various teams with assistants or apprentices. The personal name Ekloge (Ἐγγλογή) is found in Egypt for the first time.
