Abstract

In inscriptions the character of a marriage was usually described by the negation of a negative word. The most common phrase was sine ulla querella or similar expressions. Such wordings were used mainly by well-educated persons of a higher social level but not by senators or equites. In the article a list of all attestations with sine ullo/ulla concerning the matrimonial life is enclosed.
